Not Quite Warm

   Well, this weekend has been insane.  Ugh.  The school year is almost over, and it still hasn't gotten warm yet.  I'm not sure what's going on with the universe...but it needs to GET WARM!!
   Today, Kym and I went out behind the theatre's prop shed and snapped some photos.  Someone spray painted there a long time ago. The rusted wire things are all that remains of a "tree curtain" we made for our production of Into the Woods.  (Yes, we seriously made a curtain out of trees...)

I thought the tank top was a good idea...but I was freezing.  Sweaters are almost always a good decisions these days...  I cannot wait for warm weather and summer!

What a busy Monday! I practically spent all day in the printmaking studio, but Grace and I caught a break long enough to take a few pictures. 

This weekend I went shopping and found some super cute items for super cheap! HELL YEAH, H&M SALE SECTION! 

This jacket was one of my finds - it was originally about 50 dollars but I got it for 15! I felt like a shopping WIZARD.

Most of my leggings have rips in the knees because I am very clumsy.

(I always forget when to use the word "tights" and when to use the word "leggings". I've also misspelled "leggings" as "leggins" twice already.)

These shoes were another fortunate find! My roommate Jess, who is always practical when it comes to matters of shopping, even encouraged me to get them. That's how I knew they were worth it.

In the spirit of My Mom, Style Icon, and also since it's Mother's Day, I'd like to introduce you all to a sweet little lady who has shaped my personal style.

It's my mom!

I wish I had some more pictures of her from when she was my age - she was a fox.

My mom has always been a stylish woman - She's the kind of woman who always has at least three colors of lipstick in her purse, just in case. 

She's also the woman who taught  me the importance of having a signature scent! Now we nerd out together whenever I get a new fragrance sample in the mail. 

My mom is the one who taught both my sister and I that no matter what, black and white always look good. My freshman year of college, practically all I wore were little black dresses, thanks to her!

So here's to you, mom! Thanks for being the first one to teach me that it's fun to dress up. I hope I'm as half as gorgeous as you are when I'm your age.

I just made the mistake of going to the Free People website just before I was going to go to sleep. Poor choice, poor choice indeed.

Tigers All Around Us (some are volatile and some like legos)

   So, today I was working in the theatre quite late, and the sun set before Kym and I could snap some photos outside.  Sad day.  Theatre is an animal.  Like a whiny tiger.  It's powerful and amazing, yet needy and demanding, and sometimes it eats you for breakfast.  The zookeepers who take care of the whiny tiger find it fulfilling, but sometimes they need a vacation.  *smile*

This is my friend and fellow theatre major, Tyrel Borowitz.  He's awesome and loves legos and improv.  His spirit animal is a tiger (but not in the same way that theatre is a tiger...).  His lovely fiance, Darcy, make an appearance on our blog sometime in the near future...hopefully...if she let's us take pictures of her.

We took pictures too late in the day to go outside today, so instead we went into Barrington! Barrington is our art building, and both Grace and I spend too much time there. 

We migrated into Laura Ells's senior exhibition! Her work is fantastically whimsical and so much fun! She wrote a book to accompany her illustrations about how rocking chairs changed the course of history. In this picture you can really see the pattern on my dress - it's quite wheaty.

If you look closely, you can see Columbus discovering rocking chairs in America and King George being scared witless by the rocking chair demon (and we all know those kinds of demons are the worst)

   So, now that we're semi-full-swing here, I would like to address a problem.  Posing.  It's so awkward.  Kym is wicked good at it.  She just wiggles and everything looks great, and I just snap the pictures and they're always a little slanted or she's not quite in the center, so she ends up having to crop all of them.  But I'm not that great at posing.  At all.  I just stand awkwardly and look at the camera, then I remember: don't look at the camera!  So I just end up looking silly and stressed.  I need to figure this out...
